ITALO ZUFFI

SHAKING DOORS

Opening Reception Saturday, May 17, 6 - 8 PM

curated by SOFIA BERTILSSON

Italo ZuffiIrena Popiashvili and Marisa Newman of SUITE 106 are pleased to announce the first New York solo exhibition of Italian artist Italo Zuffi. In the show, Shaking Doors, Zuffi will present his video of the same name along with three sculptural installations. The underlying theme for the exhibition is one of precariousness. Zuffi explores the instability of structures that by definition evoke a sense of strength and stability. In his animated video, the viewer first sees a door and all of a sudden the portal begins quivering unnaturally and erratically. Two of the sculptures are large iron trestles. Both the size and material of these works create an illusion of strength and durability. Yet, these two pieces are not welded rather they are self-designed and assembled with mere screws and bolts making their function as a beam or table unlikely.

Italo Zuffi is a graduate of Central Saint Martins College in London. He has exhibited extensively throughout Europe and had solo shows at Studio Massimo De Carlo in Milan and Galleria Contunua in San Gimingnano. Italo Zuffi is represented by Galleria Continua in Italy.
